M M Cheney
M M Cheney was an accomplished painter as well as a gardener, photographer & collector of rocks & Indian artifacts. Vinalhaven with its enchanting bounty never escaped her searching spirit.
In her notes she wrote, " I think you can have a wonderful time. It is a wonderful time I am wishing you. Art is, after all only a trace, like a footprint which shows that one has walked bravely and in great happiness." Robert Henri
She studied and painted with Lester Stevens, Emile Gruppe, Tom Curtin, Brud Clayter and many others.

 

Karola Bryant
Born in Puerto Cabello,Venezuela, South America, March 1962, Karola Bryant came to Maine at the age of 12. She received a B.F.A. from the University of Maine at Orono with a focus in printmaking. Karola continued her studies in printmaking at the Mass.College of Art, where she was accepted as a graduate student. While in Mass. she worked for Tufts Veterinary as an illustrator for their anatomy syllabus. Although she greatly enjoys the printmaking process, she has developed her oil painting with many Maine landscapes and seascapes done on location. Additionally she has done many portraitures of people and animal alike. She is an accomplished muralist using a spray gun with acrylic paints, having done large backdrop scenes for several theatrical events. She enjoys designing theater sets and costumes with special effects. She lives in Bucksport, ME. with her artist husband, Sam Minot.

  Glass Tidbits
The most distinctive feature of dichroic glass is that it seems to have more than one color, especially when viewed from different angles. For example, a particular formulation will appear blue, but shift the dichroic glass slightly and it suddenly appears green.
